The Lion and Lamb Cafe is all about fresh, seasonal English food. At time when Britain is somewhat less British than what it was many years ago we are happy to produce dishes that represent Britain. That is not to say that we have turned our back on Spaghetti Putanesca, however we believe there is a number of Italian, French and Indian restaurants doing their thing so we would rather want you to tuck into the homemade Shepherd's Pie and munch on the Scotch egg with piccalilli. Our menu changes often to ensure the best ingredients but still includes your old time favourites. Unlike the chain restaurants, we support other small businesses around Farnham. From Milford farm who supplies us with the fresh herbs to our butcher in Godalming, we get our produce locally.
The Philosophy behind Lion and Lamb Cafe wines is very much an attitude that permeates through the whole business. All wines are marginally marked up, thus representing value for money. You will not see the usual 300% restaurant mark up here. We are also B.Y.O so if you would rather bring your own bottle and enjoy it with the meal, all you have to pay is a corkage fee of £5 per bottle.

The history of the Lion and Lamb Cafe goes back to 1926 when it originally opened as a teahouse. It was acquired in 2012 by Brendan Roberts and Magdalena Kosinska. Both have been working in the industry for over twenty years mainly in London. Brendan has been working in various London restaurants from the River Cafe as a sommelier to managing Kensington Place in Notting Hill. Magdalena gained her experience predominantly with coffee giant Starbucks & Wagamama before working with Skye Gyngell at Petersham Nurseries restaurant. “We fell in love with the site and saw it’s real potential. Our vision was to bring the bistro back to life, with fresh seasonal food served in the country styled surroundings.”
